From Russia With Style

When thinking of the most promiment fashion magnets, Moscow doesn’t initially come to mind. But with the recent influx of creativity, wealth, and interest, it soon will be. Some of the most recognizable fashion news coming out of Moscow in the last few years include the formation of Buro 24/7 by the tiny guru Miroslava Duma, the Dior retrospective exhibition at the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts Moscow, and Ulyana Sergeenko.

Started in 2011, Buro 24/7 is quickly taking over the Eastern fashion world

Established 3 years ago by Miroslava Duma (), Buro 24/7 took advantage in the fashion-hungry Slavic women that are often included in every high-fashion event, runway, dinner, and event around the world. With the recent addition of Miroslava’s good friend, Nasiba Adilova, to Dallas, it seems Buro really is taking over. Their most recent article reviewed the decadent and extremely private Dolce and Gabbana Alta Moda. Unfortunately, the Russian version of their site is most developed, so if you can read Russian or don’t mind the text you’re golden.

Even Anna is drooling behind those enigmatic shades

Any last words?

Dior, Dior! Always Dior.

Imagine a museum full of Dior

Many dreams came true when Dior unveiled their highly anticipated exhibition in the Pushkin Museum of Fine Art in Moscow in 2011. A precursor to many future exhibitions of many designers (Jean-Paul Gaultier, Dallas Museum of Art), this was the royal gem of Moscow for a very brief time. Including a unique dialogue between artists such as Picasso, Modigliani, Renoir, Cézanne and Dior creations, this was like no other.

Feel free to cry a little. I did when I went.

From the old to the new; classic silhouettes and fabrics are given new life by Ulyana Sergeenko

With the recent release of her new collection in Moscow, she has been getting more attention than ever. You can see it here (and you should, as it includes the instrumental version of Bela Lugosi’s Dead by Bauhaus). The entire collection brings to the imagination the melancholy passion of Crime and Punishment by Dostoevsky, or of War and Peace by Tolstoy.

With a set reminiscent of Swan Lake, another Russian classic, Ulyana is on the right path to creating a prominent and influential brand.

My personal favourite
