Boots
During the fall and winter, the answer to every question is, “boots.” Is it cold out? Boots. Am I hungry? Boots. Whether you are walking into the board room or going to the pumpkin patch, boots are a fantastic option for almost every guy. Minimal? Dressy? Functional? Leather? Lace? New? Old? Boots. Always the right answer.
Cable Knits
Few things scream “warm” like cable knit sweaters. Their look, feel, weight, and…smell–everything about them is warm. This winter, grab a neutral color or earth tone cable knit and watch as a hot chocolate and fireplaces appear everywhere you go. Look for a good, snug fit as sweaters tend to stretch after a few wears.
Military Style
Menswear is often inspired by military garb and we really like some of the latest iterations. Take the cable knit sweater and boots you recently purchased (see above), and pair them with some slimmed down military-green cargo pants. Top it all off with a dark pea coat or a bomber for a more casual-rugged look that says, “I care about the way I look, but I can also chop firewood.”
Athletic Gear
Athletic gear is effortless–sometimes sweats and a hoodie just feel right. Fortunately for those of us who like being comfortable (read: everyone), athletic-wear is acceptable almost everywhere. Try this: throw on a pair of dark jogger pants, a grey crew neck sweatshirt, and a pair of your favorite classic sneakers. Keep it simple.
Denim Jacket
What do cowboys and hipsters have in common? PBR, Marlboro Reds, and–most importantly–denim jackets. The jean jacket has been around for longer than we care to remember, and we dig it. It is the perfect layering piece. Wear it over a button down or sweater, or under a tweed sports coat for an edgier look. It is a piece of clothing that will be in style for as long as it lasts–forever.
Favorite Fall Colors
As the leaves change colors this season, don’t hesitate to let your clothes do the same. Falls colors, like maroons and oranges, look great with tons of color combinations. Maroon sweater and khaki chinos? Outstanding. Orange henley and dark jeans? Perfect. Don’t be afraid of using a bit of color. Just remember, if you are going with the fall colors, sticking with a blue base and brown shoes/belts is always a safe bet.
Style’s Secret Weapon: Layering
Layering is one of the best ways to add interest to your looks. Not only does it give your outfits depth, but it also allows you to wear fewer items of clothes in more ways. Get creative. Try to stack pieces you wouldn’t normally wear together–you’d be surprised how often it actually does work. However, don’t throw every piece of clothing on and walk out the door. Think of your clothing like a pizza: one topping is boring–five toppings is gross.
