founder Charlsie Grace has launched a crowd-funding project to throw the most ambitious music & arts festival in Deep Ellum yet. The 3-day festival, Deep Ellum Block Party, promises to bring over 300 music acts, showcase 200 artists, set up a 200-vendor market, and even have a beer garden with more than 30 Texan craft brews. The project’s goal of $50,000 will help book the main secret headlining act, “…think 80s new wave,” and the rest of your donations will go toward marketing and other initial expenses.
What do you get out of it? In return for your donation, the project has a sweet lists of thank you gifts depending on your level of contribution, including the chance to submit your favorite local band to play, day passes, t-shirts, and more.
This makes for a very interesting approach at bringing a festival of this magnitude depending on people’s desire to donate. And even though we think they will have a faster response in donations by announcing their main headlining band, we wish them the best of success. We are definitely donating to this, because it just sounds really awesome!
